My Concussion
On August 22, 2019 I suffered a concussion during the first Freshman football game of the season. There wan't a clear blow to the head or jolt that we could figure out, but there came a time that I told the coach that I wasn't feeling good and wanted to sit out. Then the coaching staff started to evaluate me and sent me to the trainer. I was unable to answer her questions clearly. She had my mother come down and asked her to take me to the hospital. As my mother went to gather her things and returned the trainer was more concerned and felt I was getting worse. She was concerned about me being transported by her alone. At the time my father was there he is a firefighter and was there on duty to watch the game. My mother went to talk to him as he was getting a patient ready to transport due to an injury that occurred at the game to another person. He had my Aunt come to look at me since she is a flight nurse and was there. She was going to go with us to the hospital. As we were going to leave I was unable to walk. I was put on the football cart and drove to the car. On the way my Aunt decided to stop at the fire engine and put me on the monitor to see what was going on. At that time I started to vomit and became so tired that I couldn't stay awake. It was at that time that my father arrived and my aunt told him that I needed to be transported via ambulance. I arrived at Rady's Children's hospital and was taken in to the trauma room and was then taken for a CAT scan. Unable to stay awake most of the time.
